Investigation into Athens shooting continues

 ATHENS-Athens Police Chief Floyd Johnson said his department worked throughout Wednesday night and into Thursday morning to investigate a shooting that occurred Wednesday afternoon (June 6, 2018).

 

The shooting occurred in the 23000 block of Founders Circle in the Canebrake community. Med-Flight transported the male victim to Huntsville Hospital, he said. The victim is in his mid-thirties.

 

“We have interviewed some persons of interest and those with information related to this case. We have conducted some searches and plan to talk more with the victim soon,” Johnson said.

 

Anyone with information about the shooting incident can call Athens Police at 256-233-8700.

 

“All indications are that this was an isolated incident,” Johnson said. “We have increased patrols in the neighborhood to reassure residents. If anyone in the neighborhood sees something suspicious, I ask that they call Athens Police.”
