Timothy Joel “Joey” Smith, 55, of Iuka, MS, died Wednesday, April 18, 2018, at the North Mississippi Medical Center in Tupelo. Joey was a gun and knife enthusiast and made a career as a gun and knife designer, maker, and trader, working as a promoter and operator of gun and knife shows across the United States. He was also a wonderful artist and could draw anything. He also enjoyed deep-sea fishing. He is survived by his father, Basil Walker Smith, Jr. (Ava) of Corinth; a daughter, Hannah Smith of Corinth; one grandchild, AvaMarie Smith; two step-brothers, Rusty Askew of Corinth, and Richie Askew of Jackson, TN; two step-sisters, Lorian Scott of Portland, OR, and Gina Black of Burnsville; three aunts, Teresa Smith (Samuel) of Corinth, Martha Bonds (Aaron) of Corinth, and Kathy Franks (Ricky) of Arthur, IL; and eleven first-cousins, Angie Harmon, Nikki Hill, Natalie Mallard, and Benny Brown, all of Corinth, Tammy Adair of Rye, AR, Shawna Hawkins of Monticello, AR, Dara Shrock of Arthur, IL, Eric Bonds of Commerce, GA, Ricky Franks of Vilonia, AR, Lori Bowles of Walls, MS, and Anna Evans of Sonora, CA. He was preceded in death by a son, James Smith; his mother, Anna Jean Choate Smith; a brother, Steve Smith; two uncles, Tommy Choate and Roger Smith; an aunt, Barbara Brown; and a first-cousin, Cherie Kahn. Cutshall Funeral Home of Glen, MS is entrusted with arrangements. Visitation is scheduled for 12:00 until 3:00 p.m., Saturday, April 21, at Cutshall Funeral Home Chapel in Glen. Interment will follow in Oak Grove Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Joey Smith Final Expense Fund at BancorpSouth.
