Annabell Hall Aust – Obituary

Annabell Hall Aust, a longtime resident of Huntsville, passed away Friday at the age of 105. Mrs. Aust was born on October 27, 1911 in Livingston, Sumter County, Alabama, to Nina B. and LaPorte B. Hall, one of five children in the family. She lived primarily in Birmingham and Huntsville with short stays in St. Louis, MO and Marietta, GA.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Hampton L. Aust, and her daughter, Margaret Hatch O’Brian. Survivors include her son, David Hatch (Paula) of Huntsville; stepson, James Hatch (Joyce) of Madison, MS; stepdaughter, Christine Loughead of Ormond Beach, FL; seven grandchildren, Anna Hatch Roggli (Tim), Shawn O’Brian (Dana), David O’Brian (Becky), Chris O’Brian (Jennifer), Leigh Brown (Doug), Laura Steed, and Walker Morrow (Carmen); and 18 great-grandchildren.
Mrs. Aust was the oldest member of First Presbyterian Church, where she was active in Presbyterian Women, a helper in the Peepers Sunday school class, and an office volunteer. She retired as a secretary from Huntsville Utilities in 1972.
A graveside service will be held at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, May 31, 2017 at Maple Hill Cemetery with the Rev. Rosemary McMahan officiating.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to First Presbyterian Church, 307 Gates Ave., Huntsville, AL 35801, or to the Presbyterian Home for Children, P.O. Drawer 577, Talladega, AL 35161.
