Stephen Alexander Bowman – Obituary

Memorial service for Stephen Alexander Bowman, age 78, of Fayetteville, Tennessee, will be held Friday, May 19, 2017 at 10 A.M. at St. Mary Magdalene Episcopal Church with Rev. Jason Terhune.

Mr. Bowman was a native of Denver, Colorado. He attended SMU in Dallas and the University of Denver where he graduated with a Masters degree in Business Administration. He served in the United States Army and Army reserves. Steve had a successful career in the apparel industry, including president of: Aspen Skiwear in Denver (1977-1983), MFB in North Carolina, OP Knits (a division of Ocean Pacific) in California (1986) and Jimmy’z Sportswear in California (1987-1989). He and his wife were franchise owners of Rocky Mountain Chocolate Factory stores in Silverthorne and Copper Mountain, Colorado (1992-2000). He then served as executive director of the Copper Mountain Chamber of Commerce (2000-2006).

Steve enjoyed the outdoors. He was active in bicycling (mountain and road), spraying golf balls, downhill and cross-country skiing. He loved animals.

He is survived by his wife of 43 years, Judy, of Fayetteville, TN; daughters Britte Bowman and Sue Cossetto; son Stephen Bowman; step-daughters Katherine Jepson and Amy Higgins; sisters Dianne Bowman and Bernadetta Pfieffenberger and 12 grandchildren.
