First-Fridays-300x103FLORENCE – The September First Fridays is scheduled for Friday, September 4 on Court Street in downtown Florence from 5-8 p.m.
“We’ve got some exciting events planned as part of September’s event,” said Andy Frith, the chairman of the First Fridays committee. “With the start of school and football season, First Fridays is another way to bring people downtown to enjoy the vendors and music before the game.”
A classic car cruise-in will anchor the north end of Court Street, Frith said, and the University of North Alabama athletic department will have representatives on hand to sell tickets to athletic events.
Music will kick off at 5 p.m. on the Big River Broadcasting State with Second Melody; at 11116_821641057872072_918149332855430571_n6 p.m., Dawn Osborn will take the stage, and at 7 p.m., local favorites, The Cadillacs, will rock the block until the event closes at 8 p.m.
Frith also said there are five local nonprofit organizations that will be represented at First Fridays: The Northwest Alabama Spay and Neuter Association; the Children’s Museum of the Shoals; PAWS; the North Alabama Cancer Center; and Scope 310.
Several dozen vendors will also line Court Street. From hand-crafted jewelry to fine art to hand-sewn clothing and other items, the vendors bring a special atmosphere to First Fridays.
“We have a thorough process to approve our vendors so that we can assure those who attend that these items are all created by hand with the unique skill of the artisan,” Frith said.
