Dorothy Leona Sandlin Blair, 95, of Huntsville passed away Thursday, August 27, 2015.

Mrs. Blair, a native of Huntsville, was a graduate of Huntsville High School and Alabama College for Women. She was a teacher in the public schools of Opp and Huntsville, Alabama, and later was a partner in J.E. Sandlin Hardware Company.

Mrs. Blair was a member of the Episcopal Church of the Nativity where she was a member of the Altar Guild. She was a past member of the board of directors of the Burritt Museum, was a volunteer with the Art Enrichment Program of the Huntsville Museum of Art, and was a member of the Huntsville Rotary Ann Club (past president), Aladdin Club, Garden Study Club, Study Club and the Twickenham Town Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution.

Mrs. Blair was preceded in death by her parents, James Ernest Sandlin and Jennie Leona Wilson Sandlin, her husband Roy Egbert Blair, Sr. and her son Roy Egbert Blair, Jr. She is survived by her son Ernie Blair (Carol), of Huntsville, her daughter Susan Blair Molen (John) of Birmingham; and grandchildren, Mary Wilson Molen, Elisabeth Blair Molen, and Caroline Sandlin Blair. The family expresses their appreciation to her caregivers Audrey Alston, Karen Daily, Jo Ann Dorsey, Vanessa Fields, Gladys Gill, Mollie Henderson, Linda Hubbard, Gwen Jefferson, Peggy Lloyd, Brenda Lucas, Betty Martin, Nedrea Matthews, Katie Robey, Joyce Sales, Veronica Scarborough, Mattie “Ann” Turner and Angie Wright.

Arrangements are being handled by Laughlin Service Funeral Home, where the family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. on Monday, August 31. The funeral service will be held at the Episcopal Church of the Nativity on Tuesday, September 1 at 11 a.m., with a visitation preceding the service beginning at 10 a.m. Interment will be at Maple Hill Cemetery immediately following the funeral service.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Altar Guild at the Church of the Nativity, 208 Eustis Avenue, Huntsville, AL 35801; the Burritt Museum, 3101 Burritt Drive, S.E., Huntsville, AL 35801; the Huntsville Museum of Art, 300 Church Street, Huntsville, AL 35801; or a favorite charity.
