Arrest Made In Theft From Hawkpride Water System In Colbert County

COLBERT COUNTY-On Monday November 17, The Colbert County Sheriff’s Office received a report of theft from the Hawkpride Water System Board.  It was determined that a theft had occurred and an investigation was under way.  Here is how Sheriff Ronnie May describes the events leading up to the arrest:

“On 11-17-14 (Monday) the CCSO got report of theft from the Hawkpride Water System Board.  Money was missing from the Water System accounts in 2013 and 14.  The Water Board had an audit done on the accounts.  The approximate total missing  was $31,000.  The water Board had terminated the office manager in August 2014.  The office manager was Anna Marie Terrell.    Terrell was located at her home and transported to the Sheriff’s Office.  After being mirandized Terrell stated that she developed a powder cocaine problem in 2013 and she wasn’t making enough money to support her habit then pay her bills.  Terrell stated that se would take the cash people paid their bills with then go into the computer, adjust the payments to make it look like the bill was paid.  Terrell admitted taking amounts as low as $21.00 and large amounts up to $400.  Terrell was held while Investigators discussed the case with the D.A.s office.  A warrant was issued for Terrell charging her with Theft of Property 1st degree.  Terrell is 40 years old and lives at 2625 Hawkpride Mt Rd, Tuscumbia.  Her bond was set at $10,000.   Terrell made bond and was released.”
