Funeral for Gussie Day Harris, 91, of Athens will be Thursday October 16, 2014 at 1:30 p.m. at Hartselle Heritage Funeral Home with Reverand Wayne Bumgart officiating. Burial will be in East Lawrence Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be Thursday from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m. at the funeral home.
Mrs. Harris was born September 29, 1923 in Lawrence County, AL to Charlie Lynch Welborn and Fannie Johnson Welborn. She passed away Tuesday October 14, 2014 at Decatur Health and Rehab. Mrs. Harris is survived by one son; Jerry (Lorene) Harris of Hartselle, one daughter; Diane (Dwight) Emerson of Athens, two brothers; Junior Welborn and Rayburn Welborn, four grandchildren; Tammy (Dale) Gilbert, Eve (Jeff) Cheatham, Dr. Zach (Stephanie) Emerson, and Drew (Amber) Emerson, five great-grandchildren; Dr. Amanda (Steven) Barnes, Eric Gilbert, Sophia Emerson, Harper Emerson, and Katherine Cheatham.
Pallbearers will be Eric Gilbert, Steven Barnes, Zach Emerson, Drew Emerson, and Steve Welborn. Honorary pallbearer, Jeff Cheatham.
