Funeral service for Martha Ann Hargett, age 80, of Decatur, will be Wednesday, September 3, 2014, 1:00 p.m. at Shelton Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Joe Holmes and Rev. A. Ray Lee officiating. The family will receive friends from 11:30 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. prior to service. Interment will be in East Lawrence Memorial Gardens.
Mrs. Hargett, who died Sunday, August 31, 2014, at Decatur Morgan Hospital, was born December 30, 1933, in Lawrenceburg, TN, to John Walker and Elizabeth Ivy Walker. She grew up in Huntsville, and was a member of the first graduating class of Butler High School, where she met her husband of 58 years, Walter “Fish” Hargett. She was employed by the Decatur Daily in accounting.
She is survived by her loving husband, Walter S. “Fish” Hargett, Jr. of Decatur; one son, Michael Hargett (Bonnie) of Decatur; one daughter, Lisa Wilson (Jeff) of Madison; one brother, Larry Walker (Marilyn) of Florence; five grandchildren, Lindsey Wilson, Annslee Wilson, Shelby Wilson, Elizabeth Hargett, and Christopher Hargett; and four nephews/nieces, Chuck Ferguson, Doug Walker, Laura Berryman, and Karen Phillips.
Pallbearers will be Robert Slate, John Wesley Thomas, Miles Spurlock, Billy Nunn, Ed Higdon, and Mike Cothen.
