Arrest in A Theft Of Firearms Case

DECATUR-The Decatur Police Department checked out a lead on a theft of firearms and made an arrest.    Here is how the Department described the offense and arrest:

“SYNOPSIS OF OFFENSE & ARREST:

On 04/02/15 the victim reported a theft from his residence of a fire arm. He listed his son, Jeremy Lee Johnson as a suspect in the case.

The case was assigned to Det. Sparks of the Property Crimes Division for further investigation. Investigation revealed enough probable cause to arrest Jeremy Johnson for the theft that his father reported. Det. Sparks acquired a warrant for Jeremy Johnson’s arrest on 05/05/14 for the charge of Theft of Property 2nd Degree. Det. Sparks located Jeremy Johnson later that day and arrested him for the outstanding warrant.

Theft of a fire arm in the state of Alabama regardless of its value constitutes Theft of Property 2nd Degree, a class C Felony.

Jeremy Johnson was booked into the Decatur City Jail and later transferred to the Morgan Co. Jail in lieu of a $2500 bond.”
