THE SHOALS – Thursday night Kix-96 of Big River Broadcasting delivered a superb Muscle Shoals To Music Row, as part of the W.C. Handy Music Festival. This year’s event presented the music of Atlantic Records impresario Jerry Wexler. A super show indeed!
Dick Cooper’s iconic images set a tableau that defined the evening. They were masterful photographs which depicted the master’s hand of Jerry Wexler and his years spent making hit records in Muscle Shoals Sound Studios.
On stage, The Muscle Shoals All Stars provided world-class accompaniment to The Shoal’s adopted daughter, Christine Ohlman; recording star Bonnie Bramlett; Becca Bramlett; writer-performer Spooner Oldham; Swampers David Hood and Jimmy Johnson; guitarist from Lynyrd Skynyrd and Strawberry Alarm Clock, Ed King; keyboardist from Richmond, Steve Bassett. Every musician on stage who lives and works here in The Shoals was a star last night. The audience witnessed the wonderful appearance of Scott Boyer. Welcome back, Scott!
