Zip City Volunteer Fire Department Chili Cook-Off – EVENT PHOTOS

LAUDERDALE COUNTY – Been out to Zip City lately? These folks in rural Lauderdale County know how to have a good time! Every few weeks the good people gather to listen to some old fashioned gospel music… Drink some soft drinks… Eat something cooked on a fire… And share each other’s company. It’s the kind of place you’d like to raise your kids.

This past Saturday folks gathered in the center of town to support the Zip City Volunteer Fire Department with a chili cook-off. Lots of chili. Lots of fun. This reporter was honored to be one of the chili cook-off judges, along with Sheriff Rick Singleton and County Commissioner Danny Pettus.

Thinking about Zip City and the good folks there, we are reminded of those old Motel Six radio commercials with Tom Bodett, “We’ll leave the light on for ya…”
