ZIP CITY – Tennessee Valley Horseman’s Association, a member of The Shoals Area Horseman’s Association, held it’s first horse show of the season. It was their first event of the Season and their first time at the new Robert Walker Memorial Arena in Zip City.

According to President, Daniel Brison of Iron City, The Horseman’s Association has been a part of the North Alabama community for decades. They held many events at the old Florence Fairgrounds and have moved to different venues over the years. Their last venue was in Iron City, where they operated for quite a while until the venue was closed a few years ago. As a result, the Horseman’s Association had no permanent home for several years until Robert Walker built this facility for equine activities and made it available to the Association. In January, Robert Walker succumbed to COVID-19, but his legacy of generosity and support of the Zip City community lives on in events such as this.

Despite the cool weather, a really good crowd showed up to enjoy the activities. There are several more events scheduled for June and July.

The Quad Cities Daily was on hand to shoot some EVENT PHOTOS of the first part of the rodeo and we present them here.
