Born Fairfield, AL; Graduated Fairfield Industrial & Technical HS (1946), Oakwood College and began teaching (1949); Wedded Thomas Allston (1951); Birthed Dawn (1952), Thomas Tim (1954), Ivan (1964), Tonya (1966); Principal, Berea Seventh-day Adventist Church School (1962-64); Integrated Gerry Street SDA School (66-72); Oakwood staffer (1972); Master’s degree (1982); Excellence in Teaching Awardee (1989); Co-authored A Star Gives Light; Taught in Moscow (1993), Cayman Islands (1996), Hatchuchubbee/Hurtsboro, AL (1996), Pensacola, FL (2005); and China nursing students (2006).

Received Oakwood Adventist Academy National Alumni Association annual award; OAA Quercus yearbook dedications; Huntsville’s 2013 Teacher of the Year, American Education Week. Taught 64 years for 8 straight decades; Continued commitments to Oakwood Church; Daughter Tonya’s Mom Z’s Thrift Store; and grandchildren Aaron and granddaughters Quinci, Ashley, Alexis, Kobi and Morgann Allston and great grandson Zaire.

Funeral service will be 11:00 a.m., Friday, November 3, 2023, at the Oakwood Seventh-day Adventist Church (5500 Adventist Blvd NW, Huntsville, AL 35896) with Dr. Dederick Blue as eulogist and Dr. Carlton Bryd officiating. Interment will be in the Oakwood Memorial Gardens. Ms. Allston will lie in repose one hour prior to funeral time.

The Allston family will receive guests from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., Thursday, November 2, 2023, at the Royal Chapel of Memories.
