TUSCUMBIA-The Tennessee Valley Museum of Art is excited to present Art Renderings, a
group exhibition featuring works by local elementary school students in grades K-6, collegiate
students and college instructors from across the state. The exhibit was imagined as a
compliment to the long established Artistic Renderings of Youth (grades 7-12) held at the
Kennedy-Douglas Center for the Arts in Florence, AL. March 24 – April 30, 2026.
Artistic Renderings opens March 24th and runs through April 30, 2026. Art Renderings offers
elementary school students the opportunity to showcase their many creative expressions as
young artists using a variety of media. Those artworks are contrasted with works by collegiate
students continuing their artistic studies and the professors that teach them. This is the first year
that the Tennessee Valley Museum of Art is presenting this exhibit and we hope for continued
and growing participation for many years to come.
Collegiate professors across the state of Alabama have been offered the opportunity to exhibit
their works alongside those by their students. The Curator of the Tennessee Valley Museum of
Art, Jonathan Cain, said of the exhibition, ”It is rewarding to see works of art produced
‘generationally’ in a way. It is a thrill to see children’s art full of free ranging and uninhibited
creativity contrasted with works of art by college students whose goal is more intentional and an
expression of the skills they are developing while studying with their instructors. That then gives
way to viewing works by working professional artist instructors demonstrating a more developed
and refined set of skills to their individual artistic voices. It’s a great show!” As an arts
organization whose core has always been given to arts education, this exhibit is yet another way
in which we have the privilege to serve our community and the many artists within it.
Art Renderings is on view at the Tennessee Valley Museum of Art located at 511 N. Water St.
Tuscumbia, AL. Museum hours: Tues-Fri 9am-5pm, Sat. 10am-5pm, Closed Sunday and
Monday.
