Wylie Leon Pannell, 91, formerly of Pontotoc, passed away Tuesday, July 22, 2025, at NMMC-Tupelo, MS. Leon was a strong and caring man who ran his own business repairing truck tires. He had a passion for fishing, hunting, camping, and gardening. He cherished his faith and deeply loved his family.
Leon is survived by his sons, Doug Pannell (Wanda), Kevin Pannell (Barb), and JR Zepeda (Becky), his grandchildren, Stephane Robinson (Wesley), Nicki Smithey, Joseph Zepeda (Melissa), and Megan Hillhouse (Warren), and his great grandchildren, Alex and Charlie Robinson, Addison and Remi Kate Smithey, Madelyn and Jase Zepeda, and Wyatt and Walker Hillhouse.
He was preceded in death by his parents, William Wylie and Monette Pannell, his wife, Clara Pannell, his brothers, Dennis Earl and Dulane Pannell, and his sisters, Elizabeth Martin and Nancy Hendrix.
The service is scheduled for 2 PM on Saturday, July 26, 2025, at Tutor Memorial Funeral Home in Pontotoc, with Bro. Scotty Pannell and Bro. Matt Hudson officiating. Visitation will start at 12 PM and continue until the service begins. Burial will take place at Edington Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Wesley Robinson, Joseph Zepeda, Dewayne Laney, and George Duff.
