Wyatt Thurman “T.” Poe, Jr., 55, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, surrounded by his family. He was born to, and was a proud son of Wyatt Thurman Poe, Sr. and Marilyn Poe.
T. is survived by his loving wife of 28 years, Phyllis. He was a loving father to Wyatt Thurman “Trey” Poe, III, Hayley Lynn Poe (Keenan Tipton), and Samuel “Sam” Leo Trupiano, Jr. (Candice). He was affectionately known as “Pop” to his two precious grandchildren, Mia and Trevor Trupiano.
T. will forever be remembered by family and friends as a devout Christian, servant of God, foodie enthusiast, appreciator of fine wine and bourbon, phenomenal guitarist and connoisseur of music, world class tinkerer, ham radio operator, baseball coach and a genuine friend to everyone he ever met.
Visitation will be held Thursday, January 31, 2019 from 5 to 8 p.m. at Laughlin Service Funeral Home. The funeral service will be Friday, February 1, 2019 at 1 p.m. at Southside Baptist Church, 209 Marsheutz Ave., with Pastor Jimmy Tidmore officiating. Burial will follow in Maple Hill Cemetery.
