Worley Sanford Norton, age 86, of Jasper, passed away on Wednesday, January 24, 2018 at Brookwood Baptist Medical Center-Walker.
Mr. Norton was a Corporal in the United States Army in the 24th Infantry Division, 21st regiment and served in the Korean War. He received several medals including: Combat Infantryman, National Defense, Army Commendation, United Nations Service, Korean Service, Good Conduct, Two Bronze Stars and the Heroic Mentors Achievement Award.
The family will receive friends on Monday, January 29, 2018 at 1:00 p.m. at Collins-Burke Funeral Home. Funeral services will be Monday, January 29, 2018 at 2:00 p.m. in the Collins-Burke Chapel, with burial at Walker Memory Gardens. Thomas Hyche will officiate.
Mr. Norton was preceded in death by his Father-Winston Norton; Mother-Tempy Franklin Norton; Brothers-Getter Norton, Cecil Norton and Celolie Norton; Sisters-Nepul Norton, Bemarity Norton and Unavee Norton; Daughter-Patricia Cooper.
He is survived by his Wife-Mary Norton of Jasper; Daughter-Jeannie Anderson of Jasper; Son-Sanford Norton (Melissa) of Jasper; Grandchildren-Lorinda Hope Anderson and Meyka Kendrick of Jasper; Great Grandchild-Nyla Brook Kendrick of Jasper; Sister-June Southerland of Dade City, FL; Special Nephew-Lee Norton of Greensville, TN; Special Niece-Teresa “Sissy” Norton.
Pallbearers will be Chaz Norton, Dekota Norton, Casey Norton, Tres Gilbreath, Tate Gilbreath and Adam York.
