THE SHOALS-The Shoals Business Incubator, the Shoals Economic Development Authority, and the University of North Alabama Center for Learning and Professional Development have developed a workforce training initiative focused on training entry level programmers.

The initiative, Code Alabama, is an 8-week/96-hour training course that will provide students with a fundamental understanding of programming concepts.  Upon completion of this training, students should be proficient in at least one programming language, and be able to function as a junior member of a software development team under the direct supervision of senior developers.

In order to obtain funding for this program, we must first demonstrate a sufficient demand from businesses for employees with these specific skills.  Because your company employs individuals with these type skills, we ask that you take five minutes to complete the attached brief survey.  Information gathered through the survey will play a significant role in helping to secure the funding needed to provide this training for your business and as well as others in the industry.

If you have questions or would like more information regarding this workforce training initiative, please contact Mary-Marshall VanSant, Director at the Center for Learning and Professional Development at the University of North Alabama as mmvansant@una.edu or 256.765.4184.
