Woodie William Phillips, age 77, of Winchester, Tennessee, passed away on Wednesday, December 11, 2024, at his residence surrounded by his loving family. He was born on January 30, 1947, in Winchester, Tennessee, to the late James Richard Phillips and Alma Ashby Hall. He was a dedicated veteran, serving in the US Army. William was known for his quiet demeanor and unwavering support. He lived his life marked by kindness. William spent many years in the Army working as a lineman, and later at Shadows Nursey. William dedicated his life to turning raw materials into beautiful works of art, caring for others, and found immense joy in his companionship with his feline friend, Buttermilk. He leaves a legacy of creativity and kindness, cherished by his loving family. He will be deeply missed but fondly remembered through the lives he touched. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by, siblings, Jean Phillips, Jimmie Joyce, and Robert Ashby; stepfather, Sam Ashby; nieces, Diane Medley; nephews, Shannon Pearson, James Medley, and Casey Jones; great nephew, Alex Smith. He is survived by his siblings, Elizabeth Jackson, Sammie Jones, and David Ashby (Karen); special friend, Wade King; and several nieces, nephews, and extended family. A Celebration of Life service will be held on Saturday, December 21, 2024, at 2:00 PM in the Roy B. Watson Chapel of Watson Funeral Home. Inurnment to follow in Winchester Memorial Park.
