Windell Archie Wiser – Obituary

Windell Archie Wiser age 88 of Athens, passed away Tuesday, December 12, 2017 at his residence. Mr. Wiser was born July 17, 1929 in Fairfield, TN to Archie Wiser and Algie Cook Wiser.

Services will be Saturday, December 16, 2017 3:00 p.m., at Limestone Chapel Funeral Home with Steve Klein, E.R. Hall and Tommy Thrasher officiating. Visitation will be Friday, December 15, 2017 from 6:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Burial will be in Roselawn Cemetery.

Mr. Wiser was a gospel preacher for seventy one years in several areas including Virgin Islands, India, AL, VA, KY, TN, OH, MI, FL, GA, SC, PA, WV and IN. He last preached for the Southside congregation in Athens. He loved his family, enjoyed farming, gardening, raising cattle, fishing and hunting. He broke and trained a World Champion Tennessee Walking Horse “Merry Go Boy”.

Preceded in death by his parents.

Survived by his wife of 65 years, Charlotte Wiser of Athens AL; children, James Wiser and wife, Dena of Athens, AL, Martha Hall of Madison, AL, John Wiser and wife, Lynette of Jennings, FL, Paul Wiser and wife, Goldie of Jennings, FL, Mary Fields and husband, Doug of Athens, AL, Julie Craig of Coconut Creek, FL, Anna Terry and husband, Dennis of Athens, AL; 16 grandchildren; 30 great-grandchildren; brother, Williard Wiser of Tennessee and Franklin Wiser and wife, Jackie of Michigan; sisters, Marie Warren of Alabama, Lorene Clark of Tennessee and Mary Catherine Ankenbauer of Tennessee; several nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers will be Keith Bozeman, Ruben Hall, Douglas Fields, Ian Lacasse, Hunter Terry and Jason Wiser. Honorary pallbearers will be James Edward Wiser, Josh Wiser, Jacob Wiser, Skylar Davis and Kevin Fielder.
