Wilmer (Bab) Vaughn – Obituary

Wilmer (Bab) Vaughn was born August 30, 1926 in Pocahontas, TN the son of the late Joseph Grover and Mary Ellen Hathcock Vaughn.

Mr. Vaughn was a retired maintenance worker with Western Mental Health Institute in Bolivar, TN. He was a United States Navy veteran. Mr. Vaughn was an avid Atlanta Braves fan. He enjoyed country music, his family and grandchildren, and always tended a large garden every summer.

He departed this life on November 25, 2012 at his son Derek’s home in Oakland, Tennessee at the age of 86 Years, 2 Months, 26 Days.

He is survived by a son, Derek Vaughn and wife Kathy of Oakland, TN; three daughters, Joan Bates of Darien, IL, Linda Leitz and husband Ken of Altanta, GA, Terri Manning of McAllister, OK; a sister, Ruby Deggendorf and husband Joe of Oceanside, CA,; a brother, John Vaughn and wife Dean of Bailey, CO; five grandchildren, Greg Vaughn, Meredith Fawcett, Wesley Vaughn, Katherine Bates, Renee Allen; 4 Great Grandchildren; a sister-in-law, Ruth Vaughn of Rossville, TN. A host of extended family, friends, and staff at Hospice Advantage who provided him such wonderful care.

In addition to his parents, Mr. Vaughn was preceded in death by two sisters, Blanche Mullins and husband Gould, and Lenora Mathis; three brothers, Lloyd Vaughn and wife Martha, Warren Vaughn and wife Marie, and Curtis Vaughn.
