Wilma was a kind and caring mother, Mamo, wife, and friend; she was a treasure to know and a pleasure to love. Wilma worked for the Winston Co. Board of Education at the Lynn School for 31 1/2 years, she drove a school bus and worked in the lunchroom until retirement. Wilma loved traveling, and had seen almost all of the 50 states and Canada. While she loved being on the go she also took great pride in doing things on her farm and homestead, most of all she loved to be on her tractor, to can fruits and vegetables, and planting in her garden. Before getting sick she enjoyed playing piano every Sunday at Lynn Baptist Church and helping with various activities and Vacation Bible School. Wilma was one of the kindest women anyone could meet, she would make sure that any person had a warm meal and a listening ear any time, she was a friend to anyone in need. She was loving, kind, and genuine with every choice and decision she made. She took great pride in her children and grandchildren and celebrated every achievement they made, made it a point to be there during good times and bad, regardless of her own battles. There was not a person in this small town that did not know and love Wilma because of her kind and giving nature.
Above all else, Wilma had a powerful faith and relationship with Jesus Christ. The life she lived was a beautiful testament to the relationship she had with the Lord. She was the perfect example of a strong Christian woman. She had a very strong belief system and knew exactly where she was going, home to be with the Lord and to see her dear husband, Paul. Everyone can rest assured that if anyone were to wake up in heaven, it is Wilma Patterson.
Wilma leaves behind a strong legacy and will be missed as a pinnacle of this community. While her loss will be felt and she will be grieved, she will also be remembered fondly; a lifetime of love, kindness, and mercy may never be forgotten.
Wilma will be met at Heaven’s gates by her husband, Paul Patterson, Parents, Ganus and Hazel Wakefield; brother, Ralph Wakefield; and son-in-law Timothy Steele.
