Celebration of Life service for Wilma McAbee Betterton Johnson, 92, will be Friday, April 6, 2018 at 3:00 PM at Peck Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Scotty Hogan officiating and Peck Funeral Home directing. Visitation will be from 2:00 until 3:00 PM Friday. Burial will be in Johnson Chapel Cemetery.
Mrs. Johnson died on Tuesday, April 3, 2018 at Decatur Morgan Parkway Hospital. She was born January 13, 1926, in Morgan County to Milam Monroe McAbee and Mattie Jane Martin McAbee. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband: Loyd Betterton, husband: Thomas Johnson, son: Roger Betterton, brother: Hollis McAbee, and sister: Dorothy Hall. Prior to retirement she was employed at Hartselle Hospital as Head Cashier for more than 20 years. She was a Christian and a member of Neel Methodist Church where she gave her heart to the Lord at 9 years of age. She enjoyed life and people, especially her family whom she loved dearly.
Survivors include one son: Jerry Betterton (Lisa), two daughters: Debra Betterton, Kathy Hogan (Scotty), grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great grandchildren.
The family would like to thank the staff at Parkway Hospital, USA Decatur Health and Rehab and Columbia Cottage for the care that was given to her. Prior to her recent illness she enjoyed living at Wesley Acres and made many friends there. In lieu of flowers please donate to your favorite charity.
