In Loving Memory of Willodene Smith January 31, 1948 – October 25, 2023
Boaz, Alabama – Willodene Smith, a beloved member of the community and a cherished soul, passed away peacefully at her residence on October 25, 2023, at the age of 75. Willodene was born on January 31, 1948, to her late parents, Thomas and Maudeen Morrison. She was a proud member of the Northeast Alabama Cherokee Tribe, connecting with her heritage and preserving its traditions. Willodene was also known for her vibrant spirit as a member of the Red Hat Society, where she shared laughter and camaraderie with fellow members.
She is survived by her two devoted daughters, Shanea Smith Nichols and Lisa D. Smith, who were a constant source of joy and pride in her life. Her sister, Della Morrison Harris, stood as a pillar of strength and support throughout her journey.
Willodene’s love extended to her cherished grandchildren, Samantha (Chris) Eneriko, Thomas Roush, Raelyn Roush, and Taylor Roush. She also celebrated the joy of four great-grandchildren who brightened her days. Willodene leaves behind a host of in-laws, nieces, and nephews who were touched by her kindness, warmth, and wisdom. In addition to her parents, Willodene is preceded in death by her husband, Verlon Ray Smith.
The family wishes to extend their heartfelt gratitude to the dedicated staff of Shepherds Cove Hospice, whose unwavering support and care made Willodene’s final days as comfortable and peaceful as possible.
A memorial service to celebrate Willodene’s life will be held on Saturday, October 28, 2023, at 2:30 pm at the Adams Brown Service Funeral Home. Friends are invited to pay their respects and share their memories during visitation, which will begin at 1:30 pm. Bro. Jeff Teele and Rev. Rickie Williams will be officiating services. A private burial at a later will take place at Beulah Baptist Church Cemetery in Albertville.
Willodene Smith’s memory will forever live on in the hearts of those she touched with her kindness, warmth, and love. She leaves behind a legacy of love, laughter, and resilience that will continue to inspire all who knew her.
