Willie W. “Butch” Steele, 71, passed away Saturday, November 28, 2015, at Darlington Oaks in Verona. He was born September 16, 1944 to the late Willie Woodrow Steele Sr. and the late Nora Corinne Mattox Steele. He retired from U.S. Army after 33 years of service. He was the Tilden/New Salem Fire Chief for many years as well as a volunteer fireman for the community. He was a member of Smithville Baptist Church. He grew up in Itawamba County and in June 1978 married Marciadeen Battaile.
Survivors include his wife, Marciadeen Steele of Fulton, Daughters: Laura Leigh (Jen) Fowlkes of Owens Cross Roads, AL and Lisa Kay (Dossie) Johnson of Madison, AL; Grandsons: Joshua Johnson, and Benjamin Johnson, Brothers: Keith (Cathy) Steele of Tupelo, and Kevin (Bo) Steele of LaFayette, TN, Nephew, Kory Steele, Nieces: Meisha (Bert) Sparks, and Leah (Michael) Wilson.
Preceded in death by his parents.
Pallbearers are the Itawamba County Firechief’s.
