Willie Mai Allen, age 84, a resident of Mt. Pleasant, passed away Saturday, December 14, 2019 at Maury Regional Medical Center.

A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, December 18, 2019 at 2PM at Heritage Funeral Home with Danny Grooms officiating. Burial will follow in Polk Memorial Gardens. A visitation will be held on Tuesday from 4-8PM at the funeral home. Heritage Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.

Born on September 9, 1935 in Hickman County, Willie Mai was the daughter of the late Earl David McCoy and the late Willie Brown Cagle McCoy. She worked as a nurse for many years and was a member of Cross Brides Baptist Church. She loved the Lord and her family, and her greatest joys were her children and grandchildren. Willie Mai enjoyed gardening, flowers, crocheting, canning and cooking.

She is survived by her daughters: Gayle McNeese of Columbia, Carolyn (Tommy) McCormick of Mt. Pleasant; brother, Curtis (Sue) McCoy of Hampshire; sister, Annie Edmiston of Water Valley; grandchildren: Amanda Jill Barker Thompson, Jason Alan Barker, John Wesley (Misty) McNeese, Sharon (Jimmy) Love, Ben Chiles; and great grandchildren: Hayden (Alex) Love, Hunter Love, Clayton McNeese, Caige McNeese; special friends: Caroline Thompson, Jemmy Faye Andrews, MaeLynn McNeese; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of sixty-eight years, James “Jimmy” W. Allen, on June 18, 2019; brothers: Charles Edward “Buddy” McCoy, Earl David McCoy, Jr., William McCoy, Howard Jackson McCoy; sisters: Catherine Bradley, Lois Irene McCoy; and son in law, Myron McNeese.

Pallbearers will be: Charles McCoy, Billy Wood, Tom Hughes, Mickey Allen, Michael Allen, Hayden Lightfoot, Ronnie Allen, and Will Dunnebacke.

Honorary pallbearers will include: Dr. Amit Choksi, Jemmy Faye Andrews, Edna Goodman, Thelma Wood, and the members of Cross Bridges Baptist Church.

The family would like to extend a special thanks to Danny & Michelle Grooms, Dr. Dhulipala, Dr. John Freels, and Dr. Amit Choksi for their sincere care and compassion.
