Willie Lamar Russell, 76 of Mountain Brook, passed away Wednesday June 10, 2026.
Mr. Russell was a member of Metro Church of God. He was a U.S. Army veteran, having served in the Vietnam War. He was retired from U.S. Steel and was a member of the UMWA. He was an avid fisherman and outdoorsman.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Chester and Eva Russell; brothers, Emmett and Lawrence Russell, and sisters, Alice Oates and Janie Sims.
Survivors include his wife, Anita Ellis Russell; children, Kerri Stone and husband Mike, Bill Russell and wife Mandy, Susie Holley and Shanon Jarmon and husband Brian; eleven grandchildren; eight great grandchildren; sister, Patricia Baker; brother, Ken Russell and wife Eunice; several nieces, nephews, other relatives and a host of friends.
Funeral services will be Monday June 15, 26 at 11:00 am in the New Horizon Memorial Chapel. Rev. Lane Sargent will officiate, along with Rev. Barry Gibson and Rev. Jason Browning. Burial will follow at Brasfield Cemetery in the Burnwell community. The family will receive friends from 9:30-11 am at the funeral home.
