Willie Jean Thomason Stephens, of Huntsville, Alabama, passed peacefully from this world, surrounded by those that loved her, on Monday, March 19, 2018.
She was born in Langston Alabama in May 1932 and moved to Madison County in 1937. She graduated from New Market High School, married her beloved Milton, and moved to Huntsville, Alabama in 1950. She worked as a contract specialist for the U.S. Army on Redstone Arsenal for 30 years, and she spent her more than 30 years of retirement traveling the world, lunching with the girls, helping raise her grandchildren and great-grandchildren and working in her flower beds.
She was preceded in death by her father, William Jackson Thomason; mother, Willie Delilah Evans Thomason; sister, Ada Jane Campbell, brother-in-Law Rev. James W. Campbell, and a foster brother, Arthur Hubert Schmidt.
She is survived by her husband of nearly 68 years, Milton J. Stephens; sons, Phillip J. Stephens of Hazel Green and David M. Stephens (Jenny) of Hazel Green; grandchildren, Clayton J. Stephens (Morgan), Annie L. Stephens Malo (Christopher), Haley B. Stephens McConnell (Caleb); great-grandchildren, Landon B. Stephens, Kamryn E. Stephens, Braydon J. Sisk, Leah P. Sisk, and Delilah Jean McConnell.
Visitation will be held Tuesday, March 20th from 5:00 – 8:00 p.m. at Berryhill Funeral Home, and a graveside service and burial will be held Wednesday, March 21st at 1:00 p.m. at State Line Cemetery with Rev. Eddie Lones officiating.
