Willie Huggins Williams – Obituary

Willie Huggins Williams, 90, of Huntsville, AL died August 14, 2018.  She was born April 1, 1928 in Greenville, Kentucky to the late James Freeman Huggins and Zora Murphree Huggins.  She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, James E. Williams; brother, Lowell Excell Huggins; and sister, Jimmie Imogene Huggins Williams.

 

A graduate of Jacksonville State University, Willie taught school for over thirty years with teaching assignments at Rison Elementary, Blossomwood Elementary and Fifth Avenue Elementary.   The last twenty years of her career were spent as a second grade teacher at Jones Valley Elementary.   She was a longtime member of First United Methodist Church and the McDonell Need Us Sunday School class.

 

She is survived by her daughter, Mary W. Brinkley; son, James E. Williams, Jr. (Gwen); grandchildren, James C. Brinkley, Jr. (Roxanne), W. Benjamin Brinkley (Allison), Emily W. Gray (Noah), Molly A. Williams, and Margaret A. Williams; and great-grandchildren, James C. Brinkley III, T. Benjamin Brinkley, Alexander B. Brinkley, Hannah V. Gray, Lucy H. Gray, Bailey E. Lewis, W. Bryson Lewis and J. Benjamin Lewis.  Thank you to special caregiver Gwen Cherry for her love and support and the staff of Grandview Gardens.  Thank you also to Inisclee Hale for her kindness and love.

 

The funeral will be at 2:00 Friday, August 17, 2018, at First United Methodist Church with the Rev. Coy Hallmark and Rev. Dr. Drew Holland officiating.  Burial will be in Maple Hill Cemetery.  Visitation will be one hour prior to the service.

 

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to First United Methodist Church, 120 Greene Street, Huntsville, AL 35801 or your favorite charity.
