willieWillie Ed Goodloe, Jr. was born Feb. 23, 1966 to the late Willie Eddie Goodloe and Susie Blanch (Sue) Goodloe in Leighton, Ala. He departed this life on Oct. 14, 2015 from injuries sustained in a car accident in Bradley County, Tenn.
Willie confessed Christ at an early age and joined Mt. Pleasant Missionary Baptist Church, Leighton, under the leadership of Rev. William M. Ford and later Rev. Charles Orr. Willie was very active in the church prior to attending college.
Willie completed his elementary education at Leighton Elementary School, Leighton, and was a high school graduate of Colbert County High School in 1984. He graduated at the top of his graduating class and served as President of the Class of 1984. After high school, he attended and graduated from the University of Mississippi in Oxford, Miss. on a football scholarship. Willie played for the Ole Miss Rebels for 4 years as a running back. He was highly recognized as an exceptional football player in high school and college due to his speed. He was inducted in the Colbert County Sports Hall of Fame Inductees – Class of 2007. During his time at Ole Miss University, Willie was inducted into the ETA ZETA Chapter of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity Inc., in the spring of 1987.
Willie was united in holy matrimony to Beverly Bates Goodloe whom he was married to for 18 years.
Willie was always a fun, loving person that never met a stranger. With such pleasant personality and great work ethic he was always employed by several large companies. Prior to his death, Willie was employed by Stantec Architectural Services Co. as a Senior Project Scheduler.
Willie was preceded in death by his parents, Willie Eddie Goodloe, Sr. and Susie Blanch Goodloe; grandparents, Shug and Emma Kate Jarmon and Walter and Hattie Goodloe; uncles, Hightower Jarmon, Willie Albert Jarmon, Commorthy Jarmon, Alphonso Jarmon, Ira Lee “Freddie” Jarmon, Walter William Goodloe, Willard Goodloe, Jessie Goodloe, Roy Goodloe, Thomas Goodloe and Richard Goodloe; aunts, Cornelia Jarmon, and Mattie Jarmon Russell.
Willie leaves to cherish his memories a faithful wife, Beverly Bates Goodloe; daughters, Amaya and Shakara Goodloe (Knoxville, Tenn.); sons, Joshua Vinson (Atlanta, Ga.) and Jamarcus “Quint” (Leighton); brother, Reginald (Brenda) Goodloe; sisters, Theresia Goodloe, Philadelphia, Pa., Chiquita (Brian) Suggs, Madison; and Tomekia Goodloe, Huntsville; uncle, Oscar Earl (Revena) Jarmon, Tuscumbia; aunts, Cora B. Jarmon, Birmingham, Lelia Jarmon, Chicago, Ill., Callie Goodloe, Tuscumbia; Ola Lacewell, New York; Lois Goins, Connecticut; Flora Goodloe, Colorado; Carlene Roach, Florence and Minnie Goodloe, Tuscumbia; and a host of nieces and nephews that were loved dearly.
Willie loved his family, people, football, fishing, golfing and cooking. Willie was an all-around guy. He always had a smile. Willie was a communicator that was never without words. He will be missed by family, friends and co-workers.
The public viewing will be today from 1-8 p.m. at Trinity Memorial Funeral Home, Muscle Shoals. The funeral will be at noon Monday at Mt. New Home Missionary Baptist Church, Leighton, with Rev. Jerry L. Reeves officiating. Interment will be in Mt. Pleasant Cemetery, Leighton.
