LiamWilliam Thomas Hennessy, “Liam” 50, loving husband and father, departed this life July 14, 2013, in Killen, Alabama at the home of his wife’s parents. He was a devoted husband to his wife Linda, in whose arms he passed.

The graveside service, with military honors, will be Friday, July 26, 2013 at 1:15 p.m. at the Alabama National Cemetery, Montevallo, Alabama. Elkins East Chapel Funeral Home is assisting the family.

Liam was born in Chicago, Illinois, on October 9, 1962.  He served with honor in United States Army, the United States Marines, and the United States Navy (ret). as a Russian, Czech and Serbo-Croatian linguist and intelligence analyst.

It was impossible to not be emotionally and intellectually impacted by Liam. His larger-than-life presence, insightful intellect and wit, and selfless compassion inspired his friends to dub him the “Dalai Liam,” and his wife to proclaim him the “Monkey King.” He lived in awe of the world, and of life, and he gladly shared this awe with those whose paths he crossed, inspiring us to see the world through Liam-colored glasses. Shortly before his passing Liam said, “Me, I think the world was put here to play in.”

He is survived by his wife Linda, and Liam’s children Linda Wlaznik of Rockford, Illinois; Fiona, Johanna and Thomas Hennessy of Corvallis, Oregon; and by his brothers Jim Hennessy of Chicago, IL, and Ted Hennessy of Wauconda, IL.

Liam was preceded in death by his parents, Thomas Hennessy and Diane (née Katsantones).
