Funeral for William T. “Bill” Hutchens, 93, of Somerville will be Friday, March 3, 2017 at 1 p.m. at Peck Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Tommy Smothers and Rev. Harce Swann officiating. Burial will be in Arkadelphia Cemetery in Cullman County. Visitation will be tonight from 5 to 8 at the funeral home.
Mr. Hutchens died on Wednesday, March 1, 2017 at Decatur Morgan Hospital. He was born Jan. 14, 1924, to Barney and Mattie Porterfield Hutchens.
Mr. Hutchens served in the United States Marine Corp in World War II in the South Pacific, and he was also a Liberator in Guam. He was a member of New Friendship Baptist Church and prior to retirement was employed as a mechanic. He was preceded in death by his parents; his first wife, Barbara Jean Swann; one son, Rickey Julian Hutchens and one grandson, Ritchey Hutchens.
Survivors include his wife, Willeen Hutchens; one son, Michael Hutchens (Sheree), Hartselle; one daughter, Rita Hutchens Gilbert, Hartselle; two step-sons, Tim Burrell (Maureen), Houston, Alabama and Lonnie Burrell, Hartselle; one stepdaughter, Connie Burrell, Somerville; seven grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be J.W. Davis, Lavon Davis, Wayne Wolfe, Thomas Swann, Will Bloodworth and Landon Grantland.
