Bill DarmerWilliam Rosten “Bill” Darmer, 80 of Arab passed away Monday, December 15, 2025, at Shepherd’s Cove Hospice facility in Albertville. He was born August 5, 1945, in Arab the son of Bennett Hurst Darmer and Mae Davis Darmer. He graduated from Arab High School in 1963, where he played football. While in high school he began working for John Gober at Gober Funeral Chapel and went on to receive a degree from Vanderbilt University. He later became a computer consultant and a small business owner. He was a part of the first team that put the first man on the moon. He was a member of the Arab Masonic Lodge, an avid Alabama fan, and enjoyed golfing. His life was focused on family and friends. He enjoyed the outdoors, especially camping and fishing.

He is survived by his wife of 61 years: Catherine Darmer; children: Cynthia Parker and Stan Parker; grandchildren: Ashley Parker, Ryan Parker, Danielle Parker and Nicole Darmer; four great grandchildren; sister: Dorothy Geno (Rodney); brother: Ben Darmer (Sue); special niece: Becky Darmer, along with a host of other nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by sons: Russ Darmer and Randy Parker; father: Bennett Darmer, mother: Mae Darmer Byrom; brothers: B. H. Darmer (Ruth), James “Jim” Darmer (Ivalee) and James Byrom.

Funeral Service will be 12:00 p.m. Saturday, December 20, 2025, at Gober Funeral Chapel with Tim Parrish officiating. The burial will be in Arab Memorial Cemetery, Gober Funeral Chapel directing.

Visitation will be 10:30 a.m. – 12:00 p.m. Saturday at Gober Funeral Chapel.

Pallbearers: Jeff Cobb, Stan Parker, Ryan Parker, Linn Brannon, Kevin Darmer and Mack White.
