William Roland Young, age 79, passed away Oct. 11, 2015. Visitation was Tuesday, Oct. 13, from 6-8 p.m. at Spry-Williams Funeral Home, Florence. The funeral will be today at 11 a.m. in the funeral home chapel with Brother Larry Burbank officiating. Burial will be at the Young Community Cemetery in Waterloo.
Roland was employed 43 years as a heavy equipment operator for Fritts Construction. He was a loving husband and father and especially enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren, who called him “Papa RoRo.”
He was preceded in death by his loving wife, Audrey “Jean” Young, parents, Bill and Audry Young, brother, Cletus “Skeet” Young, and sister, Shirley Young.
He is survived by his children, James Young (Ann), Billy Young (Mary), and Diane Woods (Travis), all of Waterloo, and Eric Young (Donnie) and Deborah Smith (Kevin), of Florence; nine grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Jason Young, Kirk Young, Cass Woods, Jesse Young, Josh Young, and Colt Smith.
