William Robert “Bob” Humphrey Jr., 68, of Huntsville, Alabama passed away on February 11 at home in Huntsville.
Bob was born in West Memphis, Arkansas to William Robert Humphrey, Sr. and Patricia Regan Humphrey on November 29, 1957. He attended Bishop Byrne High School and graduated in 1976. He went on to earn a bachelor’s degree in English from the University of Mississippi and a medical degree from the University of Mississippi School of Medicine. He completed a residency in internal medicine at the University of Alabama in Birmingham and a fellowship in pulmonary medicine at the University of Tennessee in Memphis. He worked as a pulmonary and critical care physician in Huntsville for 30 years. He also served as an attending in critical care for the residency program at Huntsville Hospital and received an award for teaching. He enjoyed reading and cooking.
Bob is survived by his wife, Sherry Thaggard of Huntsville; his son, William Robert Humphrey III; and his daughter, Regan Humphrey Anderson (Zach). He was preceded in death by his parents.
Visitation will be held at the Gideon Blackburn House of First Presbyterian Church on February 13 from 3:00 – 4:30 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Huntsville Madison County Public Library or a charity of your choice.
