William Richard “Rick” McGettigan, 71, of Hazel Green, passed away peacefully in his sleep Sunday, April 3, 2022. His beloved wife of 40 years, Wanda, was by his side.
From childhood, Rick was an insatiable reader in a wide variety of subjects, a gift he passed on to his sons. He was also a talented musician and loved to collect and restore musical instruments of all kinds.
A Vietnam War veteran of the US Air Force, Rick spent also spent many happy hours employed by the American Red Cross before retiring from Mesker Door Company.
He is survived by his three sons: Bill (Traci), Brendan and Bob (Jenni); daughter, Lisa (Jack); and 11 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren also to cherish happy memories: Shawn, Liam, KC, Kylee, Jack, Skyler, LJ, Kelsie, Justin, Ryan, Alila, Blakely and Sutton. Loving lifelong history lives on through his brother, Thomas McGettigan and sisters: Susan Jenkins, Sherron Grilliot and Shannon Brantley.
Rick was preceded in death by his mother, Vivan Sublett McGettigan and father, William Donald McGettigan.
A private service for the family is planned for Saturday, April 9th.
