William Ray Hunter William Ray Hunter, known affectionately as Ray, passed away on May 6, 2024. Born
on January 18, 1943 to William H “Doc” and Laura Bea Hunter.

Ray was a graduate of New Hope High School and a retiree of General Motors Delphi
facility previously located in Decatur AL.

In 1964, Ray married his wife of 60 years, Janice, they raised two children: Dianna
(Dennis) Rushing, Lisa (Ken) Spencer.

Ray was an avid fisherman. He had a passion for fast cars. Ray was a member of the
Marshall Masonic Lodge # 209, Guntersville AL and Cahaba Shrine Temple in
Huntsville AL including the Marshall Shrine Club where he worked diligently to raise
money for the welfare of children in need.

Sadly, Ray was preceded in death by his parents. His memory will be forever held in the
hearts of his surviving family: his wife Janice; his children, Dianna and Lisa; his eight
grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces and nephews.

A service to celebrate Ray’s life will be held at Guntersville Memorial Chapel on
Thursday, May 9, 2024 at Following the service, Ray will be laid to rest at Valhermoso
Springs Cemetery.

The family has designated as pallbearers to accompany Ray on his final journey.
Harvey Downs, Steve Collins, Danny Cox, Kenneth Edwards, Mark McAnally, Joseph
McAnally and Robin Johnson.

Kerry Stanley

In lieu of flowers, the Hunter family kindly requests donations be made to Marshall
Shrine Club
