William M. Murphy (Bill) was born on July 11, 1933 and passed away on April 9, 2018 surrounded in love by his family and pastor. He was preceded in death by his father, James A Murphy, his mother, Georgia M. Murphy and his brother James A. Murphy. He is survived by his wife of 62 years Janice K. Murphy, sister-in-law Georgia, children Patricia (Bruce) Olson, Terry Murphy and Laureen (Michael)Lombardo, 7 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren and 6 nieces and nephews.
Bill had a zest for living life, loving people, was always open to learning new things and could recall a joke for any topic. He was a devoted member of Messiah Lutheran Church where he was a member of the choir, an active participant in Stephen’s Ministry and enjoyed fellowship with the OWLs group. We take comfort in knowing he has met his savior in heaven and joined those who passed on before him. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that a donation to Messiah Lutheran Church is given in Bill’s name. A memorial service will be held on Saturday April 14, 2018 at 2 PM at Messiah Lutheran Church 7740 Hwy. 72 W, Madison, AL 35758.
