William Lynch Marsh, Bill, joined humanity on July 1, 1928 and left us reluctantly on January 9, 2015 after a long illness. He kept his humor and graciousness to the very end.
He was the son of James and Marybelle Lynch Marsh and lived his early life in Greensboro, NC. He was a U.S. Marine during the time of the Korean Conflict and a graduate of Wake Forrest University. He lived most of his life in Lawrenceburg, TN and retired from Union Carbide. His first marriage was to Sue Rumley Marsh and they had two sons Kevan and Darren Marsh. Later he married Polly Powell Marsh and was a loving father to her two children Will Koehler and Ingrid Koehler. He had two grandchildren of his own, James and Jenny Marsh and enjoyed Polly’s grandson Bill Newman.
Bill was known far and wide for his humor, kindness and his love of fishing and music.
Among Bill’s many contributions was being a Boy Scout Leader of one of the first integrated troops in Tennessee, a board member of Harbor House and the Creative Arts Network. He was a long-time member of the First United Methodist Church choir and served as church treasurer for several years. He and Polly loved to travel and they enjoyed many wonderful trips together. Most of all Bill was truly interested in and shared laughter with every person with whom he came in contact. His wealth was in his family and friends and the good times he had with them.
His friends and family will gather Friday, January 16, 2015 to share memories and laughter. This gathering will be held in the Christian Life Center at First United Methodist Church in Lawrenceburg, TN at 6:00 pm. Visitation will be from 4:00 to 6:00 pm on that day in the Parlor Room of the Christian Life Center.
In lieu of any gifts, Bill would want remembrances to be made individually by doing something kind for someone else and having fun in his memory.
Arrangements are being handled by Neal Funeral Home, 231 N. Military Avenue, Lawrenceburg, Tennessee
