William Louis Rhodes, 92, a longtime resident of Leighton, died Thursday, Dec. 7, 2017, in Sacramento, California with his children by his side following complications from thyroid cancer.
He is survived by his sons, William Rhodes Jr. and Joe Rhodes; stepson, Tommie Kelly; daughters, Shirley Rhodes, Sharon Rhodes, Claire Farris, and Kimberly Mitchell; many grandchildren and great-grandchildren; also, best friend, Sonny Fields.
William, affectionately known as Bill, was born and raised in Florence, Alabama the son of Joe Finner (Sadie Finner) and Rosabeth Rhodes. William was a veteran of World War II where he earned several medals. His favorite past time was rabbit hunting and fishing. He will be sorely missed by all who loved him.
