William Lincoln Blankenship 82, passed away Tuesday January 26, 2016. Visitation will be 12:00 p.m. until 1:00 p.m. Friday January 29, 2016 followed by a 1:00 p.m. chapel service at Morrison Funeral Home, Tuscumbia. Dr. Tom Whatley will officiate. Burial will be in Cherokee Memorial Park.
He was a native of Barton, AL and a veteran of the Army. He was also a Deacon at the Woodward Ave. Baptist Church. He enjoyed activities with his grandchildren and was an avid Alabama football and Atlanta Braves fan.
He was preceded in death by his wife Virginia Blankenship; brother John Blankenship, sisters Grace Atchley, Mary Jo Broussard and Martha Ogletree.
Survivors are his daughter Jill Smith (Ty); son Scott Blankenship (Suzanne); sister Barbara Windsor; grandchildren Alice Smith, Ally Blankenship and Will Blankenship.
Pallbearers will be Jeff Windsor, Jimmy Windsor, Grant Scoggins, Larry Gazzini, D.D. Atchley, and Dalton Broussard.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the Woodward Ave. Baptist Church Mission Fund 801 Woodward Ave, Muscle Shoals 35661 or Union Chapel Methodist Church 1212 Union Chapel Rd, Union Grove, AL 35175.
