William J. ‘Bill’ Young

William J. “Bill” Young, 92, of Memphis, passed away Sat., April 1 at his home.
He was born Dec. 3, 1930, in Memphis, son of the late Joseph Henry Young and Zoe Walker Young, living most of his life in Shelby County. He retired in 1992 from AT&T as a special technician and also maintained radar for the FAA. Additionally, he worked for Audubon Park Golf Course for 10 years. Mr. Young served in the US Army for 2 years during the Korean Conflict. He enjoyed golf, working on cars and could build anything. He always wanted to fly and generally just loved life, but held his greatest love for his family and being around his grandchildren. He was a Christian and Baptist in faith.
Survivors include his wife, whom he married on January 28, 1951, in Senatobia, MS, Opal Vincent Young; a daughter, Dana Young Green (John) of Memphis; two sons, Benjamin and John W. Young, both of Memphis; a brother, Gene Young of Florence, AL; 3 grandchildren, Anna Dees (Stephen), Spencer M. Green (Rossi) and Taylor Young; and 5 great grandchildren, Parrish and Walker Dees, Mac and Teddy Green and Everett Young-Madison. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Thomas H. and Roy L. Young.
