William Hansford “Pete” Kelley, age 77, of Florence, passed away Friday, April 18, 2014. Visitation will be Tuesday evening, April 22, at Elkins Funeral Home of Florence from 6-8 pm. Funeral Services will be Wednesday, April 23, at 2 p.m. at Elkins Funeral Home’s Chapel of Florence. Burial will be in New Hope Cemetery.
Mr. Kelley was preceded in death by his wife, Jo Ann Kelley, and his brother, James E. Kelly.
He is survived by one daughter, Laura Kelley; one sister, Dot Darby; and one brother, Rufus Clinton Kelly.
Pete was a sergeant in the United States Marine Corps, a member of Mars Hill Church of Christ and the Lions Club. In his early career he was managing editor of the Tri-Cities Daily. He was a public relations representative for the Tennessee Tombigbee Waterway and several other organizations, and well known as a community volunteer.
