William Floyd “Grandy” Williams – Obituary

gandyWilliam Floyd “Grandy” Williams, born Nov. 4, 1916, of Sheffield, died Monday, July 28, 2014. His family will receive friends, Friday 1-3:15 p.m., at Morrison Funeral Home of Tuscumbia. His graveside service will follow at 4 p.m. in Tri-Cities Memorial Gardens with Steve Condra officiating.

Mr. Williams was a native of the Antioch community of Lauderdale County and was an Army Veteran of World War II. He retired from Colbert Steam Plant as maintenance superintendent and was a member of Boilermakers Local No. 455. He was a member of Tuscumbia Church of Christ and was preceded in death by his parents, Edgar Blane and Lena Ann Thompson Williams, his wife, Ovalee T. Williams, his brothers, James Williams and W. C. Williams, sisters, Irene Beavers, Emogene Richardson, Elizabeth Condra, and Pauline Holden, and grandson, Tyler Williams.

He is survived by his son, Blane Williams, granddaughters, Somer and Maggie Williams, all of Sheffield, and several nieces and nephews. 

Pallbearers are Peanut Howard, Phil Hargett, David Gautney and Joe Taylor.

Honorary pallbearers are Buddy Walden, James Beavers, H. D. Kimbrough, Doug Aycock and Doug Clark.

Mr. Williams’ family greatly appreciates Doc McCoy, Dr. Loren McCoy, Jessica, Lamonica, Debbie, Dawn, Tammy, Southern Care Hospice, loving gratitude to Shawnta Abernathty for her admirable care and compassion.
