William Edward Tiller, Jr. (Eddie), age 84, passed away on March 23, 2025, at his home in Athens,
Alabama.
He was born on November 7, 1940, in Cedartown, Georgia, to William Edward Tiller and Lela
McCravy Tiller. He was predeceased by his parents and sister, Edwina Tiller Portwood. Eddie is
survived by his wife: Alice (Beattie) Tiller, his sister: Maurice Titter Wolf (Bob) two children: William
Edward Tiller, III. and Tara Lee Tiller, two step-children: Allyson Hamilton (Bruce), and Ley Chisholm.
Eddie is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
Eddie grew up in Decatur, Alabama, graduating from Decatur High School in 1959. He earned his
B.S. degree from Athens College, Athens, Alabama, and served in the Alabama National Guard. He
retired as an accountant from ConAgra, Athens, Alabama, in 2009.
Eddie was known for his many, many friends; he was loved by those who knew him well. He really
enjoyed sports, especially BAMA FOOTBALL! Eddie played tennis throughout his life and liked
biking. He was the best dancer on any dance floor!
A private family interment will be held at Athens First Methodist Church Prayer Garden, Athens,
Alabama.
