William Edward Smith William Edward Smith, age 84 of Winchester, passed away on Sunday, April 12, 2020 at his residence surrounded by his loving family. He was born in Dalton, Georgia on August 10, 1935 to the late Sir Carl and Dorothy (East) Smith. Bill served his country in the United States Army and also as a Highway Patrolman. Before his retirement, he was the owner and operator of Bill Smith Construction. Bill loved working with his hands and enjoyed such hobbies as bee-keeping, fishing, and gardening, and he was a member of the Masonic Lodge. Those who miss him will remember him as a wonderful husband, father, grandfather, and friend. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Jack M. Smith. Bill is survived by his wife of sixty-two years, Judy Smith of Winchester; brother, Walter (Susan) Smith of Houston, Texas; sons, Scott (Andrea) Smith of Winchester, and Jeffrey (Lindsey) Smith of Tuscaloosa, Alabama; grandchildren, Ethan Smith, Anna Smith, Anderson Smith, and Lydia Smith; and many nieces and nephews. Private Family services are planned with burial at Franklin Memorial Gardens. The register book and memorial cards will be available under the carport of Moore-Cortner Funeral Home from 11 am-2 pm on Wednesday, April 15, 2020. An attendant will be available to assist you.
