Funeral services for Mr. William Doris Loveless, age 97 of Lineville, Alabama, will be held on Thursday, June 25, 2026 at 1:00 P.M. at Barfield Baptist Church with Pastor John Howell and Bro. David Holcombe officiating. Burial will follow in the adjoining cemetery.
Mr. Loveless was born in Randolph County and grew up in the Barfield area. As a young man he attended Barfield High School and Barfield Baptist Church. He proudly served two years in the US Army before starting a 34 and ½ year carrier in the Army National Guard. Soon after his active duty service at Ft. Jackson South Carolina, he married the love of his life, Flora Mae Sparks. He and Mae started a family and he soon found himself at Ft. McClelland where he eventually retired.
He was a humble, kind provider with a great sense of humor. He loved gardening and the outdoors and later in life earned an associate’s degree from JSU. Mr. Loveless was a member of the Lineville Baptist Church and of the LBC Brotherhood where he was the head cook for many years.
He is survived by his wife of 74 years, Flora Mae Loveless; two daughters, Angela Loveless Haynes(Bert) of Lineville and Elaine Loveless Miller(Gene) of Delta; two sons, Roger Dale Loveless of Lineville and Danny Eric Loveless of Five Points; nine grandchildren, Amber Waites Jones(Adam), Ashley Dobbs(Kevin), Megan Maples(Sam), Chase Miller(Mary Beth), Emily Loveless, Austin Loveless(Kristen), Amber Whittington(Randon), Emma Loveless and Brandi Hardy(Chris); 19 great-grandchildren; one sister, Mytrice Baldwin; and a large extended family and many friends.
He is preceded in death by his parents, James and Eva Loveless; two sons, Doyle William Loveless and an infant son; granddaughter, Rachel Loveless; three sisters, Cleone Hart, Carolyn Stephens and Gladys McKay; five brothers, James, Bobby, George, Hanley and Reuben Loveless.
Active pallbearers will be Chase Miller, Austin Loveless, Kevin Dobbs, Sam Maples, Michael Amason and Joey Loveless.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, June 25, 2026 at Barfield Baptist Church from 11:00 A. M. until service time at 1:00 P.M.
Flowers are welcome but donations can be made to the Barfield Baptist Brotherhood or Cemetery Fund.
Benefield Funeral Home in Lineville is in charge of the arrangements.
