William Dayton “Bill” Wood, 84, passed away Sunday, May 4, 2014, at Sanctuary Hospice in Tupelo, MS . He was born August 23, 1929 to the late William Delvin and Jewel Farris Wood in Dorsey, MS. He was a member of Bethel Baptist Church. He served as previous Deacon at Bethel Baptist Church, in Dorsey, MS, First Baptist Church in Fulton, MS, and Bellevue Baptist Church, Beverly Hills Baptist Church, Berean Baptist Church, all in Memphis, TN. During his working years he was Superintendent at Ford Motor Company in Memphis, where he retired after many years of service. He also served his country in the Air Force during the Korean War. He enjoyed spending time with his family, church family, and his friends.
He is survived by his wife of 65+ years, Faye Wood of Saltillo, 2 Daughers, Melissa “Lisa”: Wood of Olive Branch, MS, and Diane (Steven) KIng of Broomfield, CO, Brother, Verl (Miriam Fay) Wood of Tupelo, 2 Sisters, Dorothy Perry of Clinton, MS, Judy (Jerry) Petty of Burleson, TX, Sister in law, Ann (Marvin) Little of Dorsey, Brother in Law, Milford Blalock of Booneville.
He was preceded in death by his Father, William Delvin Wood, Mother, Jewel Wood, 2 Sisters, Geraldine Faulkner, and Imogene Nanney, Inlaws, Milburn (Louise) DeVaughn, Sister in Law, Sara Nell Blalock.
Pallbearers will be the Deacons of Bethel Baptist Church.
