William David “Billy” Howell, a 74 year old native of Mobile, Alabama and a resident of Oakman, Alabama passed away on Wednesday November 23, 2022 at Walker Baptist Medical Center in Jasper, Alabama
William David “Billy” Howell, a 74 year old native of Mobile, Alabama and a resident of Oakman, Alabama passed away on Wednesday November 23, 2022 at Walker Baptist Medical Center in Jasper, AlabamaHe was a Vietnam War veteran, an automobile mechanic and racer who was able to recall in great detail, even at age 74, the experiences of his military and racing lives. He took great joy and pride in his service to our country and in telling his daughter, nieces, nephews and grandchildren about his military racing background. He was a respected automobile mechanic and a former race car mechanic, who was fondly known in the Walker County area and around the southeastern United States as “Paw Paw.” Everyone that knew him, thought of him as an exceptionally gifted automobile mechanic, who loved spending his time diagnosing and repairing even the most complicated mechanical problems.
The family will receive friends on Wednesday, November 30, 2022 at 11:30 a.m. at Creola First Baptist Church in Creola, AL, funeral services will follow at 1:00 p.m. Burial will be at Allentown Cemetery in Semmes, AL. Bro. Al Brown will officiate.
Mr. Howell was preceded in death by his mother Helen Franz Howell, father Billy Henry Howell, stepmother Annie (Ann) Ruth Garner Howell, Younger brother Alan Jerome Howell and nephew, Nathan Mark Howell.
Mr. Howell is survived by his daughter Jana Smith, his 3 grandchildren, Ashtain O’Neal, Murphy Smith, and Chelsea Smith. His brothers Kenny Howell (Lorrie Wallace), Mark Howell (Kim Huff), His sister Geraldine Howell Hammons also known as Sissy, His step brothers Donald Nelson (Deborah Stewart), Patrick Nelson (Deborah Robinson), Michael Nelson (Gloria Curtis), Dr. Glenn Nelson (Dottie Gray). And a very fine, host of nieces and nephews.
